Dr. Karl Einolf Named New Chair of Council of Presidents
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) is pleased to announce that Karl W. Einolf, Ph.D., president of the Indiana Institute of Technology, began serving as the new chair for the NAIA’s Council of Presidents (COP), effective July 1.
Dr. Einolf has been the president of Indiana Tech since July 2017 and has served on the NAIA’s COP since 2022. During that time, he has served on multiple NAIA task forces and has been a member of the COP Executive Committee for two years.
“Karl’s wealth of higher education experience and thoughtful insights have been invaluable since he first joined the COP,” said NAIA President & CEO Jim Carr. “His leadership embodies the NAIA's core values of integrity and character development, and we are excited to witness the positive impact he will have on the NAIA.”
Indiana Tech’s footprint has expanded significantly during Dr. Einolf’s tenure. The university has added the Warrior Park athletic complex, two new residence halls, and expanded and renovated both the Zollner Engineering Center and the Abbott Center administration building. He led the development of more than 30 new and improved academic programs and educational opportunities for students. Before Indiana Tech, Einolf was acting president and the dean of the Richard J. Bolte Sr. School of Business at Mount St. Mary’s University (Emmitsburg, MD).
The COP is composed of 23 institutional presidents who represent the 20 NAIA conferences, plus three at-large members. As part of the NAIA’s shared governance model, the COP is designated as a governing body and has authority over membership, all fiscal matters, and conference operations.
