Claerhout Caps Season with Final Player of the Week Honor After Four Home Runs and 10 RBIs
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Carter Claerhout from Bellevue (Neb.) has been named the NAIA Baseball Player of the Week after another standout performance at the plate across five games. This marks Claerhout’s second time earning the national honor this season after also receiving the award three weeks ago.
The senior hit .682 with a 2.060 OPS during the week, launching four home runs while driving in 10 runs and scoring 10 more. He posted three or more hits in four of the five games and recorded extra-base hits in four contests.
The Bellevue standout now leads the nation in batting average (.488) and hits (81), ranks second in OPS and slugging percentage, and sits fourth nationally in home runs. He also extended his hitting streak to 21 games.
Behind Claerhout’s production, Bellevue improved to 40-3 overall and a perfect 20-0 in conference play while extending its winning streak to 28 games.
Bellevue wraps up the regular season this weekend with a series against Bismarck State (N.D.) before heading into the conference tournament.
