Record-Setting Week Earns Jalen Langsy of Red Raiders His Second Offensive Player of the Week Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jalen Langsy of the Northwestern (Iowa) Red Raiders earned the Gared Performance Sports Systems NAIA Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, thanks to a career night against GPAC rival Dordt (Iowa) at home, where he was one point shy of his season high, and broke a program shooting record.
Langsy opened his week with a performance brighter than the lights in the Bultman Center. He was a walking bucket, shooting nearly 70% from the floor and 75% from deep, where he set the record for most threes in a game, where he was 12-for-16 beyond the arc. Langsy played 33 minutes and put up 48 points.
His shooting dropped a little bit in the game against Doane (Neb.), but he was still efficient as his weekly line sat at 59% from the field, 60% from downtown, and a perfect 4-for-4 at the line to average 32.5 points per game. He currently sits fifth in the NAIA in three-point percentage at 51.2 and first in points per game at 28.2.
Langsy and the Red Raiders are back in action tomorrow, Feb. 4, at Briar Cliff (Iowa) in a 7:45 p.m. CT tip-off.
