Late Push Sends Grand View to Semifinals With 2-0 Result
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Grand View (Iowa) knocked off No. 9-seeded Georgia Gwinnett 2-0 on Thursday morning in the quarterfinals of the NAIA Men's Soccer Championship Tournament, solidifying their place in the semifinals.
The opening half played out evenly, with both sides trading chances and generating a few early pushes through set pieces. The Vikings broke the silence late in the second half, as Justin Figaroa scored in the 84th minute off an assist from Braden Schoene. Just three minutes later, Pietro Piacenza added the insurance goal in the 87th minute on a one-on-one push upfield, with the feed from Tim Schoorlemmer.

The Vikings' goalkeeper, Luis Helm, made one save after facing one shot on goal to earn the shutout, while Georgia Gwinnett’s keeper, Victor Darub, stopped two of the four shots on target.
Grand View will return to the pitch on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 1 p.m. against the winner of the Warner Pacific (Ore.) and Cumberlands (Ky.) match.
