Day 1 of the 2026 NAIA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championships Recap
GAINESVILLE, Fla. [RESULTS] – The first day of the 2026 NAIA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship opened with the heptathlon and continued with four preliminary races and one NAIA champion crowned in the high jump at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center.
Men’s High Jump Final:
- Hollis Morton of Brewton-Parker (Ga.) claimed this year’s high jump championship, clearing 2.10m (6'10.75"), a career-best mark.
- Victory Dailey of Marian (Ind.) finished second and McKale Hood of Indiana Tech placed third, both clearing 2.07m (6' 9.5").
Men’s Heptathlon Highlights:
- Justin Krabbenhoft of Eastern Oregon won the first event of the day, the 60m dash, with a time of 7.01 (879 points).
- The Cumberlands (Ky.) duo of Mark Lawin and Seth Massie finished first and second in the long jump, separated by just 0.01m with marks of 6.92m and 6.91m, respectively.
- Lawin also won the shot put with a throw of 14.47m (47' 5.75"), earning 757 points.
- Tysen Grinde of Dakota State (S.D.) earned first place and 803 points in the high jump with a mark of 2.00m (6' 6.75").
- Lawin (3,018 points) and Massie (2,970 points) lead the standings after four scored events.
- The heptathlon will conclude Friday with the 60m hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000m run remaining.
The events that held preliminary races today were the men’s 3,000m race walk, the men’s 4x800m relay, the men’s 4x400m relay, and the men’s distance medley relay.
A highlight of the preliminary races came in the first heat of the men’s 4x800m relay, where Park (Mo.) broke the NAIA Meet Record with a time of 7:29.28.
With the high jump as the only scored event of the day, Brewton-Parker leads the men’s team standings after Day 1 of the championship with 10 points. Marian (Ind.) follows with eight points, and Indiana Tech sits in third with six.
Competition at the 2026 NAIA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship continues Friday, March 6 at 10:00 a.m. ET with the men’s heptathlon 60m hurdles. Track events will begin at 11:15 a.m. ET.
