Braden Kalvelage Breaks Northwestern (Iowa) Long Jump Record

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Northwestern (Iowa) senior Braden Kalvelage has been named the NAIA Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week after turning in a pair of record-setting performances at the Concordia Classic on January 31, 2026.

Kalvelage delivered the highlight of the meet in the long jump, winning in a 34-athlete field with a school-record leap of 7.62 meters. The mark not only rewrote Northwestern’s record book, but it also positioned him among the national leaders, currently ranking third in the NAIA this indoor season.

His impact extended beyond the runway. Kalvelage also helped spark another historic result by opening Northwestern’s 4x400-meter relay. The Raiders quartet won the event and broke the school record with a time of 3:20.00, topping a 12-team field and adding a second record-breaking performance to Kalvelage’s weekend.
