Marian (Ind.) Captures Back-to-Back NAIA Men’s Indoor Track & Field Titles

GAINESVILLE, Fla. [RESULTS] – One NAIA Championship Record was broken on the third and final day of the 2026 NAIA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship as Marian (Ind.) secured its second consecutive Red Banner at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center.

Mile

  • Tristan Trevino of Marian (Ind.), a member of yesterday’s 4x800m relay national champion team, opened the day with a national title in the mile, crossing in 4:04.25.
  • Justin Kiplagat of Trinity Western surged late to claim second in 4:04.34, while Camden Khon of Spring Arbor (Mich.) followed in third at 4:04.59.

60m Hurdles

  • Koby Higginbotham of William Penn (Iowa) clocked 7.82 to win a tight race, earning national champion status and a personal best.
  • Schavon Carr of Campbellsville (Ky.) finished runner-up in 7:85, also a personal best, while Nic Tozer of Indiana Tech took third in 8.01.

400m Dash

  • Netanel Dorothea of Madonna (Mich.) captured the national title with a run of 46.69, marking a season best.
  • Tyrece Grant of Texas Wesleyan followed in 46.94 for second, while Jan Busam of Huntington (Ind.) secured third in 46.96, a personal best.

600m Run

  • Tavon Davis of Cumberlands (Ky.) topped the podium in 1:16.20, recording a personal best.
  • Corlando Chambers of Central Methodist (Mo.) claimed second in 1:16.32, also a personal best, while Luis Peralta of Milligan (Tenn.) rounded out the top three in 1:17.87.

60m Dash

  • Barnabas Aggerh of William Carey (Miss.) sprinted to the national title with a time of 6.64.
  • Surprise Babalola of Dillard (La.) earned silver in 6.67, a personal best, while Damarion Alexander of Voorhees (S.C.) finished third in 6.71, matching his personal best.

800m Run

  • Cody Hammond of Park (Mo.), already an All-American at this year’s championship, elevated his performance to capture the national title in 1:50.95.
  • Marti Molins of Milligan secured second in 1:51.07, while Charles Leedke of Marian followed in third in 1:51.17.

Triple Jump

  • Romaine Lewis of William Carey claimed gold with a jump of 15.95m (52'4"), surpassing his previous career best of 15.40m. Lewis had also earned All-America honors earlier in the long jump with a fourth-place finish.
  • Twin brothers Jaylen and Jayden Burris of Voorhees finished second and third with jumps of 15.70m and 15.62m, respectively. Jayden’s mark of 15.62m marked a new career best.

1,000m Run

  • Nathan Cremin of Montreat (N.C.) delivered a dominant performance, setting an NAIA Meet Record and finishing more than three seconds ahead of the field.
  • Braden Sweet of Indiana Wesleyan took second in 2:25.55, a personal best, while Kobe Wessels of Lewis-Clark (Idaho) crossed third in 2:25.64, also a personal best.

Pole Vault

  • Ridge Willard of Indiana Wesleyan cleared 5.00m (16'4.75") to secure the national title.
  • Tyler Shipley of Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) followed with a vault of 4.95m for second, a season best, while Josh Forbes of Taylor (Ind.) finished third at 4.85m.

Shot Put

  • Cade VanVleet of Montana Tech earned gold with a throw of 17.73m (58'2"), outdistancing the field by nearly two feet.
  • Tahaj Acoff of Arizona Christian took second with a mark of 17.13m, while Cale Bessler of Doane (Neb.) finished third at 16.96m. Both recorded personal bests.

3,000m Run

  • Ryan Stade of Montreat captured gold in 8:02.63, marking a personal best.
  • Jack Anderson of The Master’s (Calif.) finished second in 8:03.89, while Trenton Sweet of Indiana Wesleyan followed in third at 8:05.15. Both Anderson and Sweet also recorded career bests.

200m Dash

  • Netanel Dorothea of Madonna doubled his title count, adding the 200m crown with a time of 21.02 after winning the 400 earlier in the day.
  • Jaylyn Session of William Carey secured second in 21.10, while Romeo Brown of Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) finished third in 21.35.

5,000m Run

  • Luca Madeo of Cumberlands (Ky.) topped the podium with a time of 14:13.24.
  • Jack Gladfelter of Corban (Ore.) finished second in 14:14.31, while Mason Weisgerber of Southern Oregon crossed third in 14:18.07.

4,000m Distance Medley Relay

  • Marian (Charles Leedke, Dexter Parker, Mason Piatt and Tristan Trevino) claimed the title with a time of 9:54.46, giving the Knights a seven-point lead over Cumberlands (Ky.) heading into the final race of the day.
  • Oklahoma City followed closely in second at 9:54.65 with Brendan Robeaux, Alexander Daly, Demarion Dean and Hendrick Ramirez.
  • Indiana Wesleyan rounded out the podium in 9:54.78 with Trenton Sweet, Shadrach Oduma, Zeb Wilson and Braden Sweet.

4x400m Relay

  • Marian capped its championship performance with another victory, taking the 4x400m relay in 3:10.24 (Eli Givens, AJ Kelly, Tre Jones and Eric Materna).
  • Huntington (Ind.) placed second in 3:12.46 with Noah Wellington, Celestin Trambloy, Jayden Williams and Jan Busam.
  • Bismarck State (N.D.) secured third in 3:13.00 with Nathan Mathern, Keaton Saastad, Timol Walters and Cayden Kraft.

Marian claimed back-to-back titles with a final team score of 66. Cumberlands, the previous reigning champion, finished second with 52 points. Indiana Tech placed third with 42.5, while William Carey rounded out the top four trophy winners with 42.
