Joao Infante Boasts Week-High .727 Attack Percentage for Attacker of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Cumberland (Tenn.) senior outside hitter Joao Infante has been named Men’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week after powering the Phoenix to a perfect 4-0 stretch that featured a statement win over No. 12 Reinhardt (Ga.). A native of Lisbon, Portugal, Infante delivered a week of high-volume, high-efficiency offense, finishing with 61 kills while hitting .480 and averaging 4.69 kills per set across 13 sets.
Cumberland’s unbeaten run began with a four-set victory over Reinhardt. He put down 15 kills in the 3-1 win, while also contributing three digs and two total blocks. The Phoenix then carried that momentum on the road to Midway (Ky.), where Infante was nearly unstoppable from the pin. He recorded nine kills on just 11 swings, committing only one error for a blistering .727 hitting percentage in a straight-set win.
Infante’s most dominant performance came against Indiana East, where he captured 22 kills in a 3-0 sweep. He paired that production with elite efficiency, hitting .581 while adding an assist and two blocks. He closed the week with another strong showing versus Rio Grande (Ohio), tallying 15 kills while hitting .464 in a second consecutive sweep to keep Cumberland rolling.
On the week, he added 10 digs and seven blocks, finishing with 68 total points as Cumberland’s go-to attacker in every match.
