12.67 Assists Per Set, Set Alonzo Vega Up for Setter of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Campbellsville (Ky.) junior setter Alonzo Vega has been named NAIA Men’s Volleyball Setter of the Week after engineering two straight-set wins. Vega delivered the same production on back-to-back nights, posting 38 assists in each match to finish the week with 76 assists in just six sets, for an outstanding 12.67 assists per set.

Vega’s impact was felt most in the efficiency of the Tigers’ attack. With him directing traffic, Campbellsville hit .465 as a team in a 3-0 win over Midway (Ky.) on April 3, then followed it up with a .317 team hitting percentage in another 3-0 sweep, this time against Rio Grande (Ohio) on April 4.

The symmetry of Vega’s weekend was striking. Against Midway, he paired his 38 assists with 14 service attempts, one ace, and two digs. The next night versus Rio Grande, he matched the 38 assists again and added even more pressure from the service line with 17 attempts and three aces, along with two more digs. Across the two matches, he totaled four aces, 31 service attempts and four digs.

This is the final setter of the week award for the 2026 season.
