May 24, 2011

GULF SHORES, Ala. – (Box Score) Jackie Imhof twirled a one-hit shutout to send Oregon Tech (41-12) to Wednesday's National Championship game at the 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex as they defeated California Baptist (64-4) 1-0 on day two of bracket play.

The National Championship game will take place Wednesday, May 25 at 12:30 p.m. against the winner of Belhaven and California Baptist. Those two teams play Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Imhof (24-5) allowed only Briana Corral's leadoff single in the fourth inning and struck out nine Lancer batters while walking none.

After that leadoff hit, she set down the next 12 hitters she faced in order. She needed only 93 pitches to pick up the victory.

Emma Holden (34-2) was the tough-luck loser after giving up one run on one hit in a complete-game effort. She struck out seven and walked one. That one hit was a solo home run to left field off the bat of Kayde Schaefer to lead off the sixth inning.

Prior to the blast, Holden had worked 29 shutout innings at the tournament.

Imhof has a 0.20 ERA in 35.2 tournament innings, while Holden's ERA for tournament play sits at 0.23 in 31 innings.
