Mobile's Harrell Tosses No-Hitter at Thomas, Collecting Weekly Pitching Nod
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mobile (Ala.) senior pitcher Avery Harrell was unhittable last week against Thomas (Ga.), and as effective against Point (Ga.) earlier in the week, earning NAIA Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 24.
Harrell allowed two hits the entire weekend and only walked two, allowing four baserunners across 14 innings. She struck out 14 batters and didn't allow a run, beating Point 7-0 and Thomas 5-0, tossing a seven-inning no-hitter at the Night Hawks.
She opened with six strikeouts in the two-hit effort against Point and backed it by fanning eight in the win over Thomas.
Mobile has a conference doubleheader in the Southern States Athletic Conference this weekend, hosting Faulkner (Ala.), Friday at 2 p.m. CT.
