Whitney Waddell of Indiana Wesleyan Did it All for The Wildcats in Arizona Last Week, Picking up Player of the Week Honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Whitney Waddell of Indiana Wesleyan was a tough out at the plate last week. The Tucson, Ariz., desert air was a benefit for Waddell as she slashed a .607/.633/.821 over eight games played.
Waddell and Co. went 6-2 last week in the desert, with splits against Park-Gilbert (Ariz.) and Northwestern (Iowa), then earning single-game wins against Saint Mary (Neb.), William Penn (Iowa), Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.), and Providence (Mont.). The sophomore crossed the plate 13 different times and drove in 12 RBI, with her highlight game being game two against Park-Gilbert, where she scored three times, drove in seven runs, and tallied eight total bases.
She was locked in, bringing her own heat at the plate, going 17-for-28 at the plate with a double, triple, homerun, eight stolen bases, and an impressive one strikeout, and got caught stealing just once. In the field, she was perfect, recording 10 putouts and one assist.
Waddell and the Wildcats are back on the diamond for Crossroads League action later today for a two-game series against Grace (Ind.). First pitch for game one is set for 3 p.m. in Winona Lake, Ind., at Coach Phil Dick Field. Game two will follow shortly after game one concludes.
