Caparros Sets New School Record at Defiance (Ohio)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lorena Caparros, a junior guard from Defiance (Ohio), has been named the NAIA Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week. Hailing from Cartagena, Spain, Caparros etched her name in the Defiance record books.
On November 21, during a resounding 111-53 victory over Grace Christian College, she broke Defiance College's single-game steals record by capturing 14 steals. The following night, Caparros continued to impress by setting a new career-high with 17 points in a 77-60 win against Great Lakes Christian. Her consistent scoring ability was evident throughout the week, as she averaged 13.7 points per game over three contests. Her shooting efficiency was notable, with a field goal percentage of 44.4%, including a solid performance from beyond the arc.
Caparros's contributions were not limited to scoring. She was a pivotal part of the defensive effort that forced a staggering number of turnovers: 54 against Grace Christian, 35 against Great Lakes Christian, and 34 against Rochester Christian earlier in the week. Her all-around performance included an average of 7.3 steals per game.
