Texas Wesleyan's Junkin Claims Third Career NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week Award
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Texas Wesleyan junior Makena Junkin is the NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week for the third time in her career and the second time in 2025-26, claiming the March 18 award after a gritty win at the Kona Ice Keiser Kup at Okeeheelee Golf Club, last week.
Junkin, from Burleson, Texas, won for the third time in 2025-26, this time in a loaded field at the event hosted by Keiser (Fla.).
The 2025 NAIA First-Team All-American covered 54 holes in 222, 6-over par, including a 1-under final round of 71 to help secure a three-stroke win. She opened with a first-round 77, and bounced back in the second 18 holes with a 2-over par 74.
The victory marked her eighth collegiate win, tying her for first place in Texas Wesleyan program history with Alex Schies (2015-18). Junkin claimed the same award earlier this season on Sept. 17, the second award of 2025-26, and she was the first NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week last season, on March 5, 2025.
Texas Wesleyan is back in action March 31-April 1, at The Golf Club at Chino Ranch, taking part in the National Women's Collegiate Golf Championship, hosted by the Women in Golf Foundation.
