McGaha Named NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week after Win at Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Milligan (Tenn.) junior Bailey McGaha won the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout, the Buffs' home event, and led her team to a lopsided team title, earning the April 15 NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week honor.
McGaha was 6-over par for the event, and the Knoxville, Tenn., native did it with a run of birdies in the second round, making five to shoot 73, 1-over par.
She shot 77 in the first round, helping her team to a 22-shot lead on day one. They expanded that lead in the second round, ultimately winning the event by 35 strokes.
McGaha was nearly as dominant in the second round, winning despite entering the final round in a second-place tie. She used a five-hole stretch on the front nine that featured three birdies, and she won the event by making just one double bogey over 36 holes.
Milligan has closed the regular season and is off until April 27-29, in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship at Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Ga.
