Sofia Diaz of Southeastern (Fla.) Had a Fire Week Between the Sticks for Defensive Player of the Week Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A pair of games against two ranked programs, and Sofia Diaz of Southeastern (Fla.) held No. 16 Truett McConnell (Ga.) and No. 17 Georgia Gwinnett scoreless over 180 minutes between the posts on the road. Diaz embodied the SEU nickname of Fire with eight saves. She improved to 2-0-1 on the season and earned her first two shutouts of the year, earning National Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Against No. 16 Truett McConnell, Diaz made three saves, helping the Fire to a 0-0 draw on the road. Two days later, against No. 17 Georgia Gwinnett, she made five saves, including a penalty kick save with 10 seconds remaining in the first half, keeping all momentum in SEU's favor for the 2-0 victory.

Overall, on the season, Diaz is at 272 total minutes in net, with a 0.33 goals against average to go along with her 11 saves.
