The Patriots Advance to the National Semifinals After 1-0 Victory over John Brown (Ark.)

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The Patriots earned the one-goal win over John Brown (Ark.) in a match that was suspended at halftime in Pensacola, Fla., and resumed in Orange Beach, Ala.

The decisive moment came in the 89th minute when the Patriots' Nicole Araujo found the back of the net, assisted by Carola Fontan, breaking the deadlock and sending UC to the national semifinals. Araujo's goal was her 11th of the season. Both teams were playing lock-down defense, limiting open looks on frame. Cumberlands' goalkeeper Morgan White made five saves to secure the clean sheet. John Brown's goalie, Marely Fonseca, also made five saves.

The Patriots outshot John Brown 13-12, with six of their shots on target compared to JBU's five. Cumberlands improved to 15-4-3, while John Brown wraps up the season at 15-2-4. UC will take on Oklahoma Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. CT.
