Mariana Barreto of Central Methodist (Mo.) Soars to Offensive Player of the Week Honors after a Big Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Central Methodist (Mo.) Eagles' top goal scorer, Mariana Berreto, continues to lead the way as she earns National Offensive Player of the Week honors. Barreto scored half of the team's total goals last week, helping CMU to a 2-0 record. The junior forward posted 16 total shots while sending 62.5% of those shots on frame for an impressive week.
Barreto and company picked up a 4-1 win on the road at Briar Cliff (Iowa), where she found the back of the net three times, marking her first hat trick of the season. She added a single assist to her stat line while sending five of nine shots on frame.
Just three days later, she added two more goals to her season total at home against William Woods (Mo.), helping the Eagles to a 6-1 victory at home. Adding two more assists against the Owls, her shot on goal percentage climbed remarkably, up to 71.4% (5-of-7).
Barreto has been on a tear offensively with season totals of 32 shots, 20 shots on goal, six goals, three assists, and 15 points.
