Marian (Ind.) Wins Program’s First NAIA Women’s Indoor Track & Field Title
GAINESVILLE, Fla. [RESULTS] – Two NAIA Championship Records were broken on the final day of the 2026 NAIA Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship as national champions were crowned, and the Red Banner was awarded at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center.
Mile
- Heidi Heldt of Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) captured the first national title of the day, clocking a 4:43.33 in the mile, marking a new personal best.
- Katie Woods of Marian (Ind.) placed second with a time of 4:47.33, while Sydney Little of Indiana Wesleyan finished third in 4:48.99.
60m Hurdles
- Adrianna Rodencal of Concordia (Neb.) finished two tenths of a second ahead of the rest of the field with a winning time of 8.25, notching a personal best.
- Akeelah Knox of Central Methodist (Mo.) placed second with an 8.44, while Olga Gomez of Southeastern (Fla.) placed third at 8.49. Both recorded personal bests.
Shot Put
- Sydney Duncan of IU Kokomo (Ind.) earned the national title with a throw of 17.01m, finishing more than five feet ahead of the rest of the field.
- Kori Nagel of Dickinson State (N.D.), yesterday’s weight throw champion, placed second with a mark of 15.26m. Lauren Cima of Providence (Mont.) placed third at 15.15m, a personal best.
High Jump
- Adarra Hagelund of Dickinson State won the high jump, adding 10 points to her team’s score with a clearance of 1.78m (5'10").
- Delaney Miller of Evangel (Mo.) placed second, clearing 1.75m, while Sanaa Allison-Williams of Jarvis Christian (Texas) placed third at 1.72m, a personal best.
400m Dash
- Charity Jones of Madonna (Mich.) clocked a winning time of 53.51, marking a personal best.
- Nikiwe Mongwe of MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) placed second with a time of 54.27. Kat Vogt of Doane (Neb.) placed third in 54.40, also a personal best.
600m Run
- Alexandrea Clarke of Saint Xavier (Ill.) posted a winning time of 1:31.15, a career best in the event.
- Autumn Nold of Evangel (Mo.) placed second with a time of 1:31.54, and Olivia Lentz of Olivet Nazarene placed third in 1:31.88. Both recorded career bests.
60m Dash
- Blessing Ogundiran of Warner (Fla.), the favorite in the event, claimed the national championship in her debut season with the Royals, clocking a time of 7.31 and edging out the field.
- Tiyna Ridge of Friends (Kan.) placed second with a time of 7.32, while Tyreese Smith of William Carey (Miss.) placed third in 7.39. Both recorded personal bests.
800m Run
- Emeline Delaville of Life (Ga.) won the 800 with a time of 2:08.38.
- Maya Pearcy of Rocky Mountain (Mont.) placed second in 2:09.95, a personal best. Olivia Mathis of Saint Xavier placed third with a time of 2:10.25, a season best.
1,000m Run
- Marian teammates Katie Woods and Summer Rempe went gold and silver. Woods, who took silver in the mile earlier in the day, dominated the field with a time of 2:47.68, smashing her previous best of 2:51.35. Rempe followed with a time of 2:49.14, also a career best by more than three seconds.
- Heidi Heldt of Olivet Nazarene followed up her national champion mile performance with a bronze medal, finishing in 2:49.25.
3,000m Run
- Ellen-Mary Kearney of Milligan (Tenn.) captured the title with a time of 9:45.69.
- Alauna Carstens of Evergreen State (Wash.) placed second in 9:51.95, a season best, while Elizabeth Barrett of Indiana Wesleyan, who entered the meet ranked 17th in the event, placed third in 9:55.15.
200m Dash
- Tonyan Beckford of St. Thomas (Fla.) won the event with a time of 23.65, earning 10 points for the Bobcats and setting a personal best.
- Nikiwe Mongwe of MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) claimed her second silver of the day, finishing in 23.92. K’Leigh Davis of Indiana Tech placed third in 24.17, a personal best.
5,000m Run
- Jaynie Halterman of Taylor (Ind.), the reigning champion in the event, went back-to-back with a time of 15:52.27, surpassing her previous NAIA Meet Record of 16:00.14 set last year.
- Heather Murphy of Montreat (N.C.) placed second with a time of 16:24.40, while Grace Steinmetz of Bellevue (Neb.) followed in third with a time of 17:08.38. Both Murphy and Steinmetz recorded personal bests.
Distance Medley Relay
- Marian (Summer Rempe, Kathy Soriano, Gracynn Hinkley and Katie Woods) won the event with a time of 11:39.21, securing the national title for the Knights heading into the final race of the day.
- Indiana Wesleyan (Sophia Haslett, Anna Vie, Makena Cruse and Sydney Little) placed second with a time of 11:39.61.
- Milligan (Kaylee Coll, Aleah Soderman, McKenzie Fitzgerald, and Ellen-Mary Kearney) placed third in 11:42.60.
4x400m Relay
- Doane secured the gold in the final race of the championship as Kat Vogt, Jayden Meyer, Kiley Hejtmanek, and Tania Gleason posted a winning time of 3:42.32.
- Life placed second with Kamarra Trisch, Emeline Delaville, Najah Gibson and Shevaughn Thomas finishing in 3:43.81. Indiana Tech (Giselle Uvieghara, Junae Bennett, Cale Sanders and Tamia Taylor) placed third in 3:44.04.
Marian captured the program’s first NAIA Women’s Indoor Track and Field Red Banner with a final team score of 51. Dickinson State finished second with 41 points, while Central Methodist placed third with 33 points. Indiana Wesleyan and Olivet Nazarene each totaled 30 points to round out the top five.
