Eastern Oregon Advances to Quarterfinals With a Four Set Win

SIOUX CITY, Iowa [BOX SCORE | BRACKET] - In the 2025 NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship, the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers defeated the St. Thomas (Fla.) Bobcats 3-1 (25-22, 25-15, 23-25, 25-13).

Eastern Oregon clinched the first set with a tight 25-22 finish. Despite St. Thomas's energetic play, Eastern Oregon's efficient attack of .281 gave them the edge. The second set saw Eastern Oregon secure a 25-15 win. The Mountaineers' offensive efficiency peaked with a .325 hitting percentage, while holding the Bobcats to a hitting percentage of .000 for the set. St. Thomas fought back in the third set, edging out Eastern Oregon 25-23. However, Eastern Oregon sealed the match in the fourth set with a commanding 25-13 victory. 

For the Mountaineers,  Keira Vaughn led the team with 18 kills and a .349 hitting percentage. Kiauna Mack also delivered a strong performance with 10 kills and a .391 hitting percentage. Defensively for the Mountaineers, Mylie Mills contributed five block assists, along with Brooklyn Willard and Jaycee Villastrigo, who each recorded 12 digs.

The Bobcats' efforts were spearheaded by Alexandra Bruno, who achieved 11 kills in the match. Aleksandra Ivanovic followed with 10 kills with a .600 hitting percentage. Ranya Mehta also added nine kills. Payton Bertke directed the St.Thomas offense, registering 39 assists on the match to go along with 14 digs. Fabianna Mucciola also contributed on the back court, adding 26 digs. 

With this loss, the Bobcats are now eliminated from the tournament.

This victory marks Eastern Oregon's seventh time advancing to the championship quarterfinals in program history. The Mountaineers return to action Saturday, December 6, at 11 a.m. and will play the winner of Pool H.
