SIOUX CITY, Iowa [BOX SCORE | SCHEDULE] - The Northwestern (Iowa) Red Raiders opened Pool B at the NAIA Women's Volleyball Championship with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-22) win over Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) Warriors. 

Both teams opened with a rocky start, posting nine errors apiece in the opening set. The Red Raiders made up for it with 13 kills but the Warriors only racked up four kills in the set for a negative attack percentage. The Warriors improved their attack percentage each set, where they ended at .257 in set three. However, NWC outpaced LC in every category by the numbers except for digs (48 LC - 47 NWC). 

Key players for Northwestern included Stella Winterfeld, who led the team with 13 kills and a .235 hitting percentage. Sidney Oostra also made significant contributions with seven kills and three service aces. Zavyr Metzger and Emma Westphal led the blocking effort with seven and five blocks assists, respectively. 

Lewis-Clark State had standout performances from Karissa Lindner and Mikale Roy, both contributing eight kills each. The Warriors also boasted two players with double-digit digs as Ella Stosich recorded 13 and Teagan Scott posted 10. 

This is the 37th pool play win for Northwestern. 

Both teams will face Aquinas (Mich.) in the coming days. Lewis-Clark State will return to the court on December 4 at 4:30 p.m. CT on court one. Northwestern will have an off day and return to play on December 5 at 3:30 p.m. CT on court two.
