Freshman Directs Spartan Offense on Her Way to Setter of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Valentina Navarro of Missouri Baptist has been named the NAIA Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week. Navarro's performance on the court over the past week not only showcased her skills but also significantly contributed to her team's success.
Navarro tallied a total of 175 assists, averaging 11.67 assists per set. Her efforts were crucial in helping MBU secure victories in three out of four matches last week.
One of the standout performances for Navarro came in the match against RV Indiana Tech, where she recorded 52 assists, leading her team to a 3-1 victory. Navarro's contribution was equally significant in the match against RV Taylor (Ind.), where she added 58 assists and 10 digs for a double-double, despite the team falling short in a closely contested five-set match.
Navarro's versatility was further highlighted in the Spartans' match against No. 14 Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio). She delivered 38 assists in a three set win.
In addition, Navarro also contributed defensively and offensively, with a total of 31 digs, five kills and seven service aces over the week.
