Collins Voted as Setter of the Week for Second Time this Season
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sydney Collins, a senior at Oklahoma Wesleyan, has been named the NAIA Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week. Collins' exceptional performance was pivotal in leading the Eagles to a remarkable upset victory over the No. 6-ranked team.
Collins demonstrated her mastery in setting with an impressive total of 112 assists over two matches, averaging an outstanding 14 assists per set. Her ability to orchestrate the team's offense was instrumental in Oklahoma Wesleyan's success, as she effectively distributed the ball to her teammates, enabling them to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
In the match against RV Park (Mo.) on September 20, Collins recorded 56 assists, contributing significantly to the team's 3-1 victory. Additionally, Collins added two service aces and 11 digs.
Later the same day, Collins continued her dominant performance against No. 6 Northwestern (Iowa), once again tallying 56 assists in another 3-1 win. Her defensive contributions were equally notable, with 17 digs for a double-double and one service ace.
Overall, Collins also accumulated eight kills, 28 digs, and maintained a service ace average of 0.50 per set. Her all-around contributions were crucial in securing both victories.
