Oklahoma City Cruises Past the Eagles on Day One of the NAIA Softball World Series

COLUMBUS, Ga. - [Bracket | Schedule | Watch] In the nightcap of day one at the 2025 NAIA Softball World Series, Oklahoma City University (OCU) overpowered Central Methodist University (CMU) with a 13-0 victory.

OCU's offensive strategy was relentless from the start, accumulating 17 hits and 13 runs over just five innings. The team was led by standout performances from Analise Rayburn and Grace Pollon. Rayburn was a powerhouse at the plate, driving in seven runs with two home runs, including a grand slam in the fifth inning. Pollon also contributed significantly with a double and three RBIs.

The scoring began in the second inning when a fielding error by CMU allowed OCU to bring in an unearned run. The third inning saw OCU extend its lead with four more runs, thanks to timely hits from Rayburn, Emersen Heron, and Kindalyn Miller. The momentum continued in the fourth inning with Rayburn's two-run homer and Pollon's two-RBI double. Finally, Rayburn's grand slam in the fifth sealed the game with a 13-0 lead.


OCU's pitcher, Heron, delivered a stellar performance, allowing only three hits and no runs over four innings. Heron faced 17 batters, striking out two and walking two, demonstrating precision and control on the mound. The defense backed Heron up flawlessly, committing no errors throughout the game.

In contrast, CMU struggled both offensively and defensively. Their pitchers, Haley Cotter and Veronica Dearth, were unable to contain OCU's hitters, giving up 17 hits and 13 runs, 10 of which were earned. CMU also faced challenges in the field, committing three errors.


The victory highlights Oklahoma City's impressive form as they continue their pursuit of the NAIA Softball Championship title. With an overall record of 50-9, OCU's blend of potent offense and solid defense makes them a formidable contender in the tournament. The Stars will have Friday off before playing again on Saturday, May 24, against the winner of Grand View (Iowa) and Cumberlands (Ky.). Central Methodist (Mo.) will take on Midland (Neb.) at 1 p.m. in an elimination game.
